BUILDING CONFIDENCE IN KIDS AND ENCOURAGING THEM TO
HAVE A GO
The Wings Drop in Centre at Wilcannia recently hosted a special Disco after receiving a Youth Week grant of $500 from Central Darling Shire Council.
It was called “OWN IT” on the dance floor – Children’s and Youth Disco “ and around 120 local kids turned up to dance and have loads of fun.
Maari Ma Youth Worker at Wings, Tony Gilfoyle said it was a huge success and
while Wings has discos regularly, he said this was the best ever held.
During the day a couple of workshops were held with rappers who had travelled from Sydney.
There was a break-dance workshop with James Pan and another by free style
rapper, Nick Knowledge. The Disco encouraged the children to get out there on the dance floor and have a go and as well as doing physical exercise it helped to build up their confidence.
There were also competitions and prizes to give away. A great time was had by all thanks to theWings team, the guest rappers and the Shire for their grant.
